consultation

i have a patient that our provider saw in the hospital as a consultation. she was not admitted as an inpatient but as a 23 hour observation. when i am coding this do i use the outpatient consult codes with an outpatient point of service. she has health assurance and i know with these consult codes there are alot of insurances that are not accepting them. if that is the case would i just then use an outpatient office visit code 99201 to 99205? thank you

re: consultation

Who admitted to OBS, outpatient?
If you were not the admitting physician and it is not a Medicare patient, use 99241-99245 for documented consultation, place of service (OP). If Medicare or other payer not accepting consult codes, use new or established visit codes (99201-99215).
