coverager for valium during a procedure in the office

Patient is scheduled for a procedure in the office. Patient is given the option to use Valium on the day of procedure. Physician GIVES patient a PRESCRIPTION to purchase the valium at a pharmacy.

Is giving the patient a script for the Valium part of the global period, and/or should the patient have to out of pocket for this?

A rep came to our office and indicated that the purchase of the Valium should be part of the global period for the procedure (36475 or 37665).
