S/Keratosis

Biopsy result was seborrheic keratosis w/features of a wart. Do I have to use Sk as my dx code or wart? Thanks

re: S/Keratosis

Per ICD-9 702.1- is a benign, lightly pigmented, warty growth composed of basaloid cells, the 5th digit would depend on it its inflamed or other NOS, look at your code 702.1 and pick the fifth digit that best describes the symptoms. in other words you would not have to code for the warty growth, just the keratosis:)

re: S/Keratosis

I used the 702.19. I wasn't sure if I have to code the wart too. Thanks so much

re: S/Keratosis

your ICD-9 book will always give you a definition of what the code means( in fine print under the code usually in blue for the 2014 book published by AAPC, but other books will also have a definition), that should help you in deciding if the code fits for the DX you are looking for.
