Would still like some help with this

Are the data points limited to what is listed on the reference guides or are there other things to consider as well?
I'm wondering if referring the patient to another specialty is consider a data point?

Thanks

I do alot of auditing and no you do not count it in the data points unless he documents that he has discussed the patient with another provider and has summerized the discussion (2 points). Or the provider can make a "decision to obtain and/or patient hx from another provider (1 point). I hope this helps.

Referral to another physician, consultation (1)--Texas Medicare, look at this audit sheet: http://www.e-medtools.com/Trailblazer_Medicare_Audit_v1.pdf. Look at Data reviewed or ordered section. You do not get a point for sending to another physician for care.
Remember, these are guidelines only, each Carrier will make their own interpretation.

So, I'm understanding that you basically do stick with the reference tools?
