99213+g0438

Is it appropriate to bill medicare for this combination of services
99213+G0438+G0442+g0444 if I see and treat a patient for diabetes, perform initial annual wellness visit and create my forms such that I screen for ETOH misuse and depression as part of the AWV. Medicare has paid this in the past I read an article that G0442/G0444 should not be billed since it's part of the initial AWV. OF course it is not a part of sAWV.

I dont see your justification in billing all those. Where do you get elements for a 99213? You would need an addditional problem with seperate elements identified. I think all you have here would be a G0438.

I think you will be putting up some red flags.

Depression screening is part of the AWV so I don't see reporting it separately. A problem oriented visit may be billed on the same day if documented.

re: 99213+G0438

Depression screen is only part of the Initial AWW, not the subsequent G0439. G0442 is separately reimburseable with both G0438 and G0439. Documentation must support the 99213 w/mod 25.
