Handling code

Good morning,

If we sent out a urine specimen that had to handled a certain way, is there a HCPC code or CPT code for special handling of specimens?

Thanks

The handling is bundled into E&M for almost everything except paps with medicare.

Handling code

It's been years since I've seen 99000 paid by anyone. Is anyone out there being paid for it by any insurer?

99000

I actually do billing for a physician in Beverly Hills and I use 99000 with A4215 and A4770 and get paid on 99000 and at least one if not oth of the A codes. I get payments from most of the major carriers.

Physician?

What type of physician specialty are you billing for? Is the physician you bill for, certified or licensed to bill DME?

99000

We charge a $10 draw fee to do lab work. This is not billed to the insurance company. I am being told to use 99000 by one insurance carrier. Is this correct?

99000

Medicare considers 99000 a bundled (cannot bill carrier or the patient) service and makes no separate payment for it. Some commercial payers may pay for the service.

99000

Morning and Happy Friday!

We are having a debate and I am in hopes of some opinions and expertise! When billing for 99000 is there anything anywhere that indicates you may not bill for this unless you are actually paying for lab transport? When is it proper to bill for this (I know not many payors pay and may inflate adjustments)

TIA!

Martha

At our practice we have been adding modifier 59 to 99000 and insurances are paying
