Rural Health clinics and CPT's 76818 & 76819
Our new clinic manager has been hunting up new codes trying to increase revenue and has recently decided we are to bill CPT® 76818 US W/NST & 76819 US W/O NST. We are a Rural Health clinic and though we have billed CPT® 59025 NST we have never billed for these ultrasounds and I'm not sure if we can as a RHC clinic. Our lead biller who knew alot about rural health rules has retired and I'm sadly lacking in knowledge of what we can or annot bill for other than the basics. Does anyone know if we can bill for these and if so do we need any special modifiers? Any help would be greatly appreciated as the clinic manager is wanting to implement these soon. I'm worried because she has not managed an RHC clinic before and has tried to get us to bill for other codes that were not acceptible for RHC's.

There are some guidelines on the Web.. Just type in Rural Health Clinic guidelines and there are a few out there. You can also check your Medicare Contractor as well. What State do you all reside in?
