School project
Hi my name is Elizabeth. I'm currently in school for medical billing and coding. I have a project to do and I was wondering is anyone would be interested. The project itself is that I have to interview a medical biller who is actively in the field. The interview consist of 5 questions. If anyone is interested please let me know.
Thank you

I am willing to help you, but am not sure how we could do it, since I don't publish my email address or phone number publicly on any forums, and you shouldn't either. If they are simple questions, not having to do with personal items, please ask the publisher of this web page if you can publish the questions here on the forum, maybe as an article, and those who are interested should be able to answer on this forum somehow. Your local area Health Information Management Association might have some coders who are willing to help you, if you can't get permission to publish questions here on the forum. Most coders are excited & willing to share with others, especially now when we have a nationwide coder shortage. To look up your local Health Information Association, Google it as "(insert state) Health Information Management Association", and your state HIMA will pop up, probably with directions or a phone number for an upcoming local branch meeting. In some areas, the meetings are monthly, in other areas the meetings are quarterly. You could go to a meeting to talk to coders before or after the meeting is over. if you are student, you should inquire about joining and attend meetings.

Thank you for response and help. I'm just not sure where to go to ask the publisher for permission.
re: School project
Check the Terms of Use section below. There might be something in it to guide you. Easiest way would be to camp out at the next local HIM meeting to ask some coders. Or check with the Health Information Dept of your local hospital. Some still employ on-site coders or at least an on-site coding manager, so ask to speak to or leave a message for the Coding Manager/Supervisor. Or maybe the Director of Health Information Mgt could help you arrange to speak with a coder or two. As a student you should become part of the local HIM association, it is very helpful in networking, getting information and earning CEU's if you plan to become certified by AHIMA or AAPC or both. Certification will help to make you more marketable once you are out of school. Good luck! And Happy New Year!

Thank you for all the information you've provided and the advise. The reason why I'm using a forum is because between work and school I don't have the time to go out and physically meet someone. The easiest way is through a forum. I checked the forum and I should be okay. I'm going to post the questions. If you can answer them that would be great or if you don't feel comfortable that's okay too. The only thing that will be a problem is that I would need some type of contact information and the medial facility name and I know that you said you don't give that out. I will talk to my instructor about that
1.) what do you enjoy about your career as a medical biller/coder?
2.) can you tell me about one aspect of billing that is particularly challenging and some advice about how to work through that challenge?
3.) besides the education I am gaining at Branford Hall, can you suggest some information resources that you found particularly helpful to you I your career?
4.) what are your day to day activities like your work as a medical biller/coder?
5.) what else would you do with your career as a medical biller/coder?
