Pe/pap

a patient is scheduled for a pe/pap & when they come in they are menistrating & can't do the pap. We schedule a return appt to do pap. Can you bill for both days or do you just bill the preventative code for the first visit?

Pe/pap

I believe that ACOG recommends billing for the second visit. Here's the problem:

you have to collect a co pay

you have to bill an E/M service (99212--99215) depending on the level of service you provided

you need a diagnosis, and the only one you have is V72.31, and many payers will deny a second preventive service in a year.

Not a good answer, I know, but the only one I have.
