Gi cocktail

can you bill for a GI cocktail?

some resources say it's part of the visit, others say to use J8499.... which is a non covered Medicare code. I've looked at all the resources I've got and don't find a clear cut answer.... suggestions anyone?

I've also been asked by my physicians to find a code to recoup the expense and I had one suggest J8499 but that says "prescription drug" and not all components of a GI cocktail are prescripton so I am leary to report it and have been telling them it is included in their E&M, but if someone has reference that is clear, it would be appreciated.
