Confuse with 99195 and 36415 CPT® code
Hi, I was searching what should be the correct CPT® if the office did a blood collection to test like CBC/Differential, Comp metabolic panel, PTT, Prothrombin Time and Platelet, and forwarded it to the outside lab.
Or how about if the blood collection was done at the outside lab and did everything?
Confusing, so hard to decide, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rhina

You should not use the therapeutic phlebotomy code when the doctor/nurse draws blood during a visit for tests. Report 36415 (Collection of venous blood by venipuncture) for the blood draw. Code 99195 represents a therapeutic phlebotomy, often used in the treatment of polycythemia vera to reduce the hematocrit and red blood cell mass. Therapeutic phlebotomies are used in the treatment of other diseases as well.
re: Confuse with 99195 and 36415 CPT® code
here's the dx code used: V72.84, 530.11 , 210.2 , 278.00..
If 36415 is gonna be used, my question is if the blood collected was sent to the outside lab what should be the correct CPT® 99000?
