hysteroscopy/d&c

one of our physicians planned on doing a hysteroscopy with d&c - when he got in there he was able to get an endometrial sampling but there was much cervical stenosis and he was unable to obtain curretings and biopsy material. My question is do we code this procedure as a discontinued using 58558 with modifier 52 or do we just code the d&c 58120? I would appreciate any feed-back on this.
