An EPSDT exam is an Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment visit. basically medicaids name for a well-child exam.

I don't know if this term is used in other states, or if you are in MO like me, but MO medciaid has VERY SPECIFIC minimum requirements for this exam, and actually provides forms for the various ages for the providers to use. You are allowed to document this in EHR....but having just dine an audit on these exams, I STRONGLY recommend you use the form.

When billing for this exam, you use a modifer "EP".
If you do a partial exam, you can bill with the modifers "52EP" for a reduced payment.

I'd search your medicaid website for guidlines/requirements on these exams.

EPSDT stands for Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis & Treatment. SC Medicaid is based upon CPT reported in field 24D and indicator reported in 24H. We do not use field 19.
