Marsuplization vs Biospy

The patient was set up for a Marsuplization, but the operative report reads: "an incision was then made approximately 1.5cm over the site of her word catheter over the presumed cyst. the area was then opened. there was no cyst fluid and there was felt to be firm likely indurated tissue, therefore biopsies were obtained. The deeper space was bleeding and therefore it was re-approximated and made hemostatic with several figure of eight sutures. The superios and inferior aspects of the skin incision was re-approximated with 3-0 vicryl allowing the middle portion of the incision to remain open for drainage purposes." I can't find anything says a marsuplization is with or without biospies. CCI says that a vulvar biopsy is incidental to a marsuplizaiton. So is this still a marsuplization or did it turn into a biospy?

re: Marsuplization vs Biospy

Marsupialization is the surgical technique of cutting a slit into a cyst and suturing the edges of the slit to form a continuous surface from the exterior surface to the interior of the cyst. Sutured in this fashion, the cyst remains open and can drain freely. This technique is used to treat a cyst when a single draining would not be effective and complete removal of the surrounding structure would not be desirable. Still a marsuplization
