Modifiers

I'm coding a patient who had an office visit 99213 and is reviewing the Cognitive Study 96116 - our EMR program is flagging this stating the 96116 is a component of 99213 but a modifier is allowed on 96116. I have tried all the modifiers possible, but none are accepted. Any suggestions or advice?

You can add modifier 59 to CPT® 96116 because we have been facing the same problem and sought out the issue. Now the problem has been fixed and receiving payment from both Medicare and commercial insurance
