Ccs exam

I just received my graduation degrees in coding with HIM and I haven't got scheduled for the CCS exam. I am going to be applying next week and I wanted to know about the ICD 10 CM/PCS coming up soon and how that will effect the exam. Will I still have the option to use ICD 9 codes? I am still learning ICD 10 because I wasn't required to take the course. It is just now offered, but I finished in May 2015. Would really appreciate any info. Thanks!!

re: CCS EXAM

if you did not cover the ICD-10 course in your coding class, there should be no questions on the test in reference to that. I do know that AAPC and AHIMA is requiring all the coders who hold a certification in coding have to test out for ICD-10 by the end of the year 2015. There are plenty of boot camps that teach the course, and I highly recommend taking one before you sit for this exam. Good Luck:)

re: CCS EXAM

AHIMA will convert the CCS to ICD-10 on October 5. You will have no choice to test with ICD-9 codes beginning on that date. Last day to test with ICD-9 is September 30.
