cystoscopy

If the physician does a cystoscopy at the end of the surgery to make sure there weren't any nicks, cuts and functioning correctly, can we bill this separate or is it considered bundled with the hysterectomy?

re: cystoscopy

If I recall from a previous incarnation, it is considered "incidental" because it is a "CYA" check, not related to reason for the hyst, unless there was something to be repaired, then I think the repair gets paid (and the cystoscopy is bundled into the latter). Hopefully, some one with more recent experience or access to OB/GYN Coding Alert can confirm.

re: cystoscopy

It is more of a "look-see" to determine if damage has occurred or if sutures have been placed into the bladder. 52000 is a "separate procedure" and can only be coded if unrelated to surgical procedure.
