Place of service

Temporary setting of place of service for atleast a month redirecting patients to one of our facility. Can claims be billed using the place of service that the patients are normally seen instead of using the facilty that they are being redirected to temporarily?

re: PLACE OF SERVICE

Just to clarify, the patients are temporarily being redirected from one of your facilities that is of a certain type to another one that is of a different type? For place of service purposes?

I don't believe you can do that, especially in cases where it results in you getting paid a higher reimbursement. In other words, if you were reporting POS 11 (office) but the patient was being seen in a hospital outpatient department (POS 22), then you would be getting overpaid from a practice expense perspective, in view of the payer at least.

re: PLACE OF SERVICE

I'm sorry, they are being seen at one of our offices temporarily. Same billing informations, just different place of service address.
