Surgery help

Need help from anyone with surgery experience.
Pt had a hernia repair with mesh- his body totally rejected mesh and caused major internal infection. Surg went back in and removed mesh, and placed wound vac.

Now here's what i dont know what to do with..

Pt has had several returns to OR for an "abdominal washout and replacement of wound vac dressing". Pt is not closed in between these procedures, each of which averages about 45 minutes, under general anesthesia.

I don't think these qualify for use of actual wound vac codes. I don't feel as though he is treating a wound so much as using the vac as a type of suction.

Im considering 49002-52 (no closure) or going unlisted.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

Abd washouts & wound vac

I have the same situation....numerous washout's and placements of the vac. I was looking to use 49080 for the washout and 97605 for the vac changes.

Did anyone respond with anything different? I would certainly appreciate your input as well.

Thanks!
