Inpatient billing for CPT® Code 96372

I am a bit frustrated. Everything I read indicates that the use of this code is for outpatient settings. We are having a discussion with a hospital that is billing this code and the subsequently related codes during the inpatient stay. We have paid the charges when they occurrec during a pre-admission time in the Emergency Department, but not during the actual impatient stay. Please help me understand how this code should be billed and in what settings? Is there somewhere that clearly states how it is appropriately billed?

Thank you,
SDees

re: Inpatient billing for CPT® Code 96372

I'm not sure if this will help, but I found this answer:

Hospitals may not report an E/M code in addition to 96372 or 96373 when the sole purpose of the visit is drug administration.

At this link: http://news.aapc.com/96372-done-right/

Hope that helps!
