Well woman exam and smoking Cessation counseling

if a annual well woman exam is performed and bill say established Pt. 99395 and the provider discusses smoking cessation for handed out info and offered Rx etc.... 99406 or 99407 and then I understand after the Pt stops smoking then we are to have a f/u counseling appt but what is the CPT® for that visit.... is 99395 and 99406 allowed togetehr wont Insurances only allow for one service a day??? Any input would be wonderful ..

Have you checked the NCCI edits? That is always the first step in knowing whether two services are reportable on the same day.

In my opinion, and I haven't checked the NCCI edits, smoking cessation is part of the "risk factor reduction" that is paid for by the preventive service.

Thank you I have read that is part of it and I have heard its paid separate are the NCCi edits just for medicare becaus e I am more concerned with private ins.. I may just have to call and ask on a few plans..
