99024 is for internal purposes. Since there is no charge ($0.00) it is not billed to the carriers. For internal purposes, your employer will want to know how many visits a provider had for that month for productivity purposes. If you don't bill out the 99024, the visit won't count or show up on the reports to come up with the total number of visits by a specific provider. Part of the provider (physician's) productivity reports are based on the number of visits per month.

In our system, we enter 99024 with an NC modifer. This NC modifier is for internal purposes only and tells our system not to bill out the 99024 (NC=no charge). So your system should have something automatic or there may be a specific way you enter the 99024 that it doesn't get billed out but is entered to give your provider credit for that visit.
