code 93770

A friend of the doctors told him that we can charge for taking patient blood pressures during an office visit. I was under the impression that vital signs are a part of E/M? Can we charge for 93770?

No, blood pressures are not a separate billed service; Analysis or review of information derived from cardiopulmonary monitoring is considered an inherent component of the majority of anesthesia, surgical, medical and evaluation and management services

No, there is no separate charge for taking the patient's blood pressure at the time of the office visit. Maybe they meant a BP check, after a patient has had therapy for hypertension initiated.
