We have a patient who has a history of colon polyps, we are performing a colonoscopy what CPT code would you use? I told the doctors 45378 but they are questioning this. Also they want something in black and white to substantitate the correct coding

What is the patient's insurance? Is this a screening based on the patient's history? Or, does the patient have a problem?

For Medicare screening, use HCPCS codes. For commercial screening or diagnostic use CPT codes.
