Unit of Measure Guidelines

Is there a standard guideline for Unit of Measure for offices? i.e. - mg, ml, unit, etc.? If so, where can I find documentation? Our software company is reluctant to make changes and is requesting documentation. Thanks for all help!

What are you measuring?

That depends on what you are measuring and reporting. If you are talking about Units of service or line items on a medical claim form, it would be considered UOS or “Units” billed for each single service. If you are talking about drugs, the units of measure are assigned to NDC codes are also billed in units; the measure is determined in the description and assigned by the NDC code.
