Is 99401 OK to use w/ v74.5 or v65.44? Thx

Codes 99401-99404 are billed for counseling risk factors without disease. Payment of preventive services by an insurance company is dependent on claim submission using diagnosis and procedure codes which identify the services as preventive services. As each payer has their own specific payment policies. These risk factors could be an elevated BMI.
V65.41- Exercise counseling
V65.42 Counseling on substance abuse and use
V65.43 Counseling on injury prevention
V65.3 Counseling and dietary surveillance (eg, DM, food allergies, hypoglycemia, obesity, colitis, gastritis, lipid elevation)
The HIV counseling code may be used if counseling is provided for patients with negative test results.
V74.5 is for the screening.
