Does anyone know if 92014/92004 requires the patient to be dilated? One office that I worked at said no, if the patient had high intra-ocular pressure, you would not dilate them, but just document the reason. Another specialty lens could be used to view the eyes. Another office says that, yes, dilation is required to use those particular codes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

92014 & 92004 both include dilation (midriasis) per Coder's Desk Reference. This publication is necessary for accurate coding. If you don't have one, my suggestion is to ask the office manager to purchase one from Optum publishers. In my honest opinion, it should be in every coder's arsenal of references.
