Surgery that goes into next day.

If a surgeon starts a surgery on one day late in the evening and it goes on after midnight into the next day what is the correct date of service? I believe it should be when the anesthesia starts, not when the surgery ends. Please advise.

the day you "cut" is the date you use. anesthesia starts in "holding" and should have no bearing on the start time of the surgeon....
