Coding for Therapy

I work with a group of OT's, PT's, and ST's who do their own coding. The concern is whether we are coding correctly and what are we missing? Do you have any suggestions for resources to guide us in the process? We make many custom splints and generally do not bill for them because we don't know what code to use.

Coding for Therapy

I highly recommend finding a seminar where Rick Gawenda is speaking. He is the best expert I know when it comes to coding and billing for therapy. You can also find links to great information on his website - http://www.gawendaseminars.com/index.aspx.

Another great source is Cross Country Education - crosscountryeducation.com. They offer ongoing seminars that have been very useful to us through the years. Rick Gawenda happens to be the speaker for a Cross Country seminar my office is attending next month in Shreveport, but they have other knowledgeable speakers as well, and I highly recommend them.

I have worked in outpatient rehab for 15 years and was comfortable that we were doing things correctly until I went to a Cross Country seminar several years ago and it really opened my eyes.
