Cerumen removal tools
Has anyone found a reference source that specifically defines the tool(s) that must be used to support the use of 69210? I have Family Practice providers trying to use a syringe as a tool but that does not seem quite right.. any points of view would be appreciated.
re: Cerumen removal tools
This may be a payer specific decision, but in general, a washing technique is not separately payable, but considered in the E & M. An instrument is often a curette, but might be a similar instrument. The syringe sounds like a washing, & likely the payer will also consider it a washing & not consider the syringe to be an instrument in this case.
