Coding

How do you code a seldinger technique used to enter the femoral artery. A 6-French sheath was placed. A pigtail catheter was introduced in the upper abdominal aorta, and an AP aortogram was done using the DSA cut film technique using 20cc of Omnipaque? Also what is the modifier?

Catheter-based angiography is synonymous with digital subtraction angiography (DSA). Although DSA is used less in the setting of vascular diagnosis, its application in interventional procedures or to reconcile the inconsistencies of noninvasive
studies continues. Catheter-based angiography remains the primary method of evaluating the severity and specific location of occlusive disease of the extracranial carotid arteries, the renal and visceral arteries, and the thoracic and abdominal aorta and peripheral arteries.
Need more information; why was procedure performed, findings documented.
75630 (Aortography, abdominal plus bilateral iliofemoral lower extremity, catheter, by serialography, radiological S&I) and the associated codes 75625 (Aortography, abdominal, serialography, radiological S&I) and 75716 (Angiography, extremity, bilateral, radiological S&I) is the key upon which accurate reimbursement depends.
75630 should be reported when the abdominal aorta and the lower extremities iliofemoral studies are studied via a single catheter position and single contrast injection.
If the injection in the aorta is to visualize the aorta and bilateral lower extremities (looking at more than just the pelvic vessels) code 75630, Aortography, abdominal plus bilateral ileofemoral lower extremity, catheter, by serialography, radiological supervision and interpretation.
Abdominal aortography for aortic disease is reported with code 75625.
When there is injection of contrast in the abdominal aorta for visualization of the abdominal aorta for indications of aortic disease, report code 75625, Aortography, abdominal, by serialography, radiological supervision and interpretation.
