egd w/ foreign body

Patient comes in with a food bolus in esophagus. The doctor uses endoscope to examine the esophagus and sees the food bolus but only advances it into the stomach. He does not remove the bolus. Would you bill 43235 or 43247? I am billing it as 43235 and the hospital is telling me it should be w/ removal. Thanks!

I would bill it as 43247/53 for an incomplete service.

Since the endoscope did not advance beyond the pylorus, I would bill this as 43215 (esophagoscopy with removal of foreign body)
