What is the correct CPT® code to use for accessing a patients port?

May 22 2012, 12:39 PM Bill either the flush (96523) which has the slightly higher RVU value, OR the draw (36591). You cannot bill both per CPT® prohibition.

Thats what I thought, however someone told me that 96522 is the correct code and I don't think that is correct at all. I read 96522 to be for an implantable pump, not a VAD. Do you agree?

I agree. 96522 is refill and maintenence of the pump.
