modifiers

I am pretty new to coding and am a little confused about modifiers and how they must appear on the claim. If there is more than one for a certain procedure, do they have to be in a certain order?

re: modifiers

Each procedure code can have up to 3 modifiers. Order is not important.

re: modifiers

Yes, your payment modifiers (directly affect the reimbursement rate of a procedure or service's allowable fee schedule) and information modifiers (reference essential documentation details, such as, anatomic site).

**Sometimes you may need to use more than one modifier - your payment modifier always goes on the first position then your information modifier**

I found the info above here (Codapedia)!! Since you are new at coding I would advice you to surf around this website, it has a bunch of helpful info, also check out Nicoletti Notes!

Hope this was helpful, good luck! :)
