Critical Care Service

Hi,

One of our doctor is a cardiologist who visits the hospital. He was asked for a cardiology consultation service to the patient in the hospital who is in critical care.

Please suggest what service codes to be used and one thing is patient was seen by our doctor on 11/10/13 in critical care and also on 11/11/13.

Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation.

re: Critical Care Service

Many questions to ask: Reason for the consultation and opinion. Opinion is not management. If Medicare, not a consult code (99221-99223). Why did he go back on 11/11? What was done during consultation encounter ? Critical care is management of potentially unstable patient. If you are asked for opinion (not management) and patient is non-medicare-codes are 99251-99255 based on documentation.
