Voiding trials in a global period.

Patient is in a 90 day global. Is brought back to the office after the surgery to see if they are able to void on there own or if the cath needs to stay in. Medicare denys for inclusive to the procedure. Is it a part of the global package or can I use a modifer? And if I can you a modifier which one is appropriate?
Thank you,

But nancy...

the visit for the voiding trial is part of the global (and I don't think a doctor can get paid for letting a patient go pee- there is no modifier for multiple flushes, is there? ) but can they bill if they reinsert a foley catheter 51702 with the diagnosis of urinary retention?

If a urologist considers this problem new or present before surgery but not addressed by the procedure, and this problem is represented by a different diagnosis from the surgical diagnosis, you may bill for these services appending modifier -24 (Unrelated evaluation and management service by the same physician during a postoperative period) to an E/M service and modifier -79 (Unrelated procedure or service by the same physician during the postoperative period) on any surgical procedure subsequently performed. The urologist determines the nature of the clinical circumstance - whether it’s a complication, new problem or old problem
