Modifiers

Hi. We have a doctor in our group that doesn't do interventions in the cath lab. One of 2 other doctors will. Do I need any modifiers since this is not major surgery? Who will get the modifier? Dr.A who doesnt do stents or Dr's B who does it all? Thanks for you help. I just dont know where the 'line is drawn'. Where do you find the information?

Modifiers

Two physicians in a group of the same specialty should bill as one physician. There's a brief article in Codapedia about that. Search using the word group in the search box and it comes up. "Physicians in a Group."

Then, look up the global days for the procedure. (My memory says 0, but my memory is often faulty).

Read the articles about modifier 25.

I think you would bill the E/M service with modifier 25, done by one MD, and the cath with no modifier, done by the other.
