Icu

Pt was sent to ICU for ventricular tachycardia. Do I have to code 99223-99238 or is there any code for ICU's setting? According to CPT® code 99221-99239, these codes are for hospital E/R,observation status in hosp, physician's office, nursing facility settings. Im confused.

re: ICU

You would still use the inpatient codes (99221-99223, 99231-99233). ICU is just another department, but still inpatient.
