Deductibles

With the new year beginning can anyone share their thoughts on the best way to verify patient deductibles in advance. We have been getting our patients' deductibles from the various carriers' web sites. However, while many will give you the deductible, often the web site will not differentiate between a patient's in and out of network deductible. Therefore we find ourselves often requesting deductibles up front from patients who insist they do not have one.

If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Deductibles

We have historically collected a flat rate up front from patients. Regardless if we are contracted or not. Our lowest contracted amount is a little more than $50.00 for a 99213, so we are not violating our contracts.

$50.00 for an office visit & $100.00-$200.00 for a procedure. We have signs in the office the 1st of the year and most of our patients pay at the time of service.

You can also incorporate the deductible information in your appointment confirmation speech, just as you would self pay, and co-payment information.
