Home Health Care Oversight

I understand that Home Health Care Plan Oversight Services (G0181) cannot be billed to Medicare for services rendered during the post-operative period but can G0180 be billed during the post-operative global period?

Thank you!

G0180

Physician certification for Medicare-covered home health services under a home health plan of care (patient not present), including contacts with home health agency and review of reports of patient status required by physicians to affirm the initial implementation of the plan of care that meets patient's needs, per certification period. Section 15513 of the Medicare Carriers Manual (MCM) states that CPO services are only payable if the service was “not routine postoperative care provided in the global surgical period of a surgical procedure billed by the physician.”

that does mean

that the primary care doc can bill it since the surgeon billed the surgery! In my area, the surgeons don't sign the home care forms- they leave that to us. (finally they dump something on us that can be paid.)
