Pain management physician coverage

I have recently been posed with a question I simply do not know the answer to, and was hoping someone could help me out with ths one. We have a pain management practice with one pain-management physician and one internist in the practice. Can the internist see follow up patients for pain-management doctor and bill for those services even though he is not the patient's PCP?

Why not?

Your internist is a licensed physician and surgeon and can bill for any service that is medically necessary and that he or she actually performed that met the standards of coding and documentation. But if the visit is within a global period and is for followup for the procedure then it would be fraud to bill for that visit.
