48 Hr Holter Monitors

I am looking for some coding assistance for Holter Monitors. Our situation is this...

We bill the global 93324 for holter monitors. We do the hook-up. When the data comes back, it is transmitted to an outside vendor who does the report- then our physicians do the interpretation. The company bills us for the report piece.

My question is this- the code changed for 2011 in that it says "recording up to 48 hours". In the past, we would bill two 93324's for the 48 hour holter since the code used to be 24 hours. Our outside vendor is still billing us for two days for the 48-hour patient that we had. When I pointed out the change in the code, she pointed to documentation from Wisconsin's Medicare carrier that said as of 1/1/11 to bill one 93324 for each day (so therefore two).

I am looking for some clarification or additional documentation (or just opinions) on what is right. The CPT® book seems so clear to me. Any thoughts on how to address this?

Thanks,
Tracy
