Initial Preventive Physical Exam
One of the managers in one of my clinics was told by a Cardiology practice that Medicare is no longer covering the EKG portion of the IPPE. I am not seeing any changes and am not quite sure where they are coming up with this, but wanted another opinion.

The only new thing is that the EKG is no longer mandatory as it was in the past. G0403 is the EKG code

there's an article in Codapedia called, Welcome to Medicare Visit.
The EKG is indeed optional starting Jan 1 2009.
It is still paid when the physician/NPP feels that a screening EKG is useful.
