2 Visits in one day

I have a patient that came to the office for her initial pregnancy visit and was found to have vaginal bleeding. The patient went to the hospital for an ultrasound which revealed a fetal demise and then returned to the office to schedule a D & E. Should I bill for both visits?

No, bill the medically necessary 1st visit.

Are you sure....

the second visit was just to schedule the D&E at the front desk or did she meet with the doctor and discuss the findings and the plans? If so then the two visits could be combined and coded as one visit, assuming the documentation is done.

She

did see the doctor to review the results and then proceeded to schedule the surgery.

two visits, same day

I'm assuming it was the same doc? Because the visits are related combine the documentation of the two visits to choose one code.
