device checks in the global period

Hi,
Are E/M codes the only codes subject to the global rules? I am wondering about charging for a device check the day(s) after a pacemaker/ICD has been inserted.
Is that payable?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

who are you billing for?

The global period applies to the doctor. If it is an outpatient, the facility may bill the code for the device check.

It would be the group (Cardiologists) that insert the ICD- can they bill the device check codes in the hospital and also their office during the global period. I was under the impression that these codes would be paid- just an e/m would be considered global.
Thank you for your help!
