Does the insurance company if the biller/coder is certified or not.

I think you're asking if it matters to the insurance company if the coder is certified? No, it does not matter.

I don't believe so, many of the insurance companies outsource to other countries for cheaper labor. They have no idea what we are talking about half the time, nor can they speak English well. The insurance companies do not care if you are certified, they most likely prefer that you are not so that you will make mistakes. Certification comes with knowledge. This helps in coding correctly and brings in revenue. I personally would not hire someone who did not have a degree or has not been certified. There is a lot to learn in this area and it changes year.
