Recurrent pilonidal cyst

Dr. did an excision of pilonidal cyst with Z-plasty closure, total length of surgical closure is 21 cm.

Is is correct to only code the closure,14001? Or will I need to code the excision, also?

What I have read in the CPT®, Codes 14000-14302 are used for excision(including lesion)_ and/or repair by adjacent tissue transfer or rearrangement(eg, Z-plasty, W-plasty, V-Y plasty, rotation flap, random island flap, advancement flap)
Just need some help in the correct direction of this one...
Thanks for any help...

re: Recurrent pilonidal cyst

You would bill 11772---the lay description is-In 11772, the sinus is more complicated and has many subcutaneous extensions. The physician uses a scalpel to completely excise the involved tissue. Local soft tissue flaps (i.e., Z-plasty) may be required for closure of a large defect or the wound may be left open to heal by granulation. Hope this helps!!
