What are most practices charging for release of medical records to both physicians and patients?

Illinois lawyers got a bill passed that regulates copying fees.
$22.28 handling charge for processing the request for copies
$0.84 cents per page for the first through 25th pages
$0.56 cents per page for the 26th through 50th pages
$0.28 cents per page for all pages in excess of 50

Copying charges

The state usually sets the amount that may be charged for copying. We do not charge for records that are sent to other physicians for continuity of care. In our state if you charge patients for copies you can charge the per page but you are not allowed to charge the administrative charges.
