Incident To

My clinic runs a Coumadin Clinic 2 days a week. Several of our physicians would like to know if they are the supervising physician for this clinic and their name would of course be used for billing for that day and the patient is not their patient, what are the legal ramifications for attaching his or her name to the billing for that date of service if the patient does not belong to that physician?

I forgot to mention that the service is provided by a pharmacist and their students-so the clinic documentation is performed by a npp.

legally...

they are on the hook. Lawyers bring everyone into the mix. The doctor is ultimately responsible. In court they could say that the pharmacist used an approved protocol and she was only supervising but she'll still get sued.
But we can help with coding, not real legal advice so don't take this as gospel.
