Annual Exams
We have a delimma in our office. If a patient comes in for an Annual Exam (Well Woman Exam, etc.) and between the front desk and the provider this fact gets lost. The provider does the visit as a sick visit and the patient education is not done. Do you still bill it as a 9938X or 9939X since the patient came in for that? Or do you send it out with 992XX?
re: Annual Exams
Bill for the service that was provided. It does not sound to me as if a physical exam would be supported. How does the provider treat it as a problem-oriented visit if the patient presents with no complaints / issues? Those that have legitimate problems and are treated, I would contact and have them come back for their annual physical. Does the provider not receive a copy of their schedule? No communication between nurse / MA and physician before patient is seen?
